a trickle became a torrent

months, years later,

long after the stones

were removed from the garden

the way was filled

silt stopped the culvert

the dam was breached

when a trickle became a torrent

Between the Birches – v2

hidden in the forest

in the soft new snow

shown in the clearing

the crunch below

the tracks there revealed

the deer between

the birches and the pine

the paths wandering

following their own

a run unseen by us

etched in the forest floor

hidden in the snow

leading them on

up the mountain

a path they know well

to the safety of the wood

far from prying eyes

or the muzzle of a gun

seeds of the Gospel

the blessing of God’s love

the soil of our lives

the change within us

the sower in the field

the seed, the Word of God

the field human hearts

waiting for the Lord

different types of soil

hoping we would be open

the seed finding fertile ground

in hearts that are willing

in the soft new snow
