is it a wound or a scar – v2

I can relate, I probably have
this situation, open wounds
masking as scar tissue;
it may seem obvious
the way of our flesh
the wounds open, oozing,
the scars as smooth as glass;
but within our spirits
though forgiveness
may have left our lips
forgiveness may have been spoken
we may have repented of the past;
but the wound still may be open.
We must all ask,
in our prayers, in the quiet,
is it a wound or a scar?
We will only know in the connection
when the rubber hits the road
and we see the “guilty” party.

A place to dwell

We come into Your embrace
into a place to dwell, to live,
into Your love, into Your presence
to feel You all around us
to dwell in a state of worship
a new place of grace
the waters washing over us
quenching our thirst.

We come to be filled, to be full,
emptied of ourselves, this world,
filled by Your Spirit, the Word,
into a place of dwelling
of walking into, in, Your presence
falling into Your arms
into a place of grace
Your waters quenching our thirst.

papering over the pain

sometimes we let the wounds fester
papering over the pain
but the wound remaining over
not healed in any way
needing to pull of the bandage
the scab to remove the pressure
to let the bad stuff come up
so that we can achieve healing
needing to let go
to release the pressure
to give the pain over to God
to move on to scar tissue

the scar on my knee

a large scar, a reminder
the scar on my knee
not of the imperfection
the challenge, the surgery
but of the healing
that I have been walking
the last forty-five years
that I was healed completely
by the loving hand of God
guiding the hands of the surgeon
whole healed my body
God’s hand yet upon me
healing my brokenness
for these I am grateful
and will for all of my life

open wounds

maybe some comfort
in the wounds that are still open
wounds not covered over
papered over with gauze
open wounds to be mended
to be healed by Christ
open wounds waiting, hopeful
for the mercy of His touch
