there is purpose in our pain,
in our days of sin, of struggle,
God is revealed, made known,
in our times of rebellion…
 
there is purpose in our pain,
in our coming to the Father
there is mystery in our suffering
that only time will reveal…
 
there is purpose in our pain,
even when we are innocent,
the nature of God, His essence,
is revealed in the darkness…

I carry that scar tissue

I carry that scar tissue
wounds that have never healed
I wear my shame, my pain,
as a tattoo on my living flesh…
 
I know in part, only,
pain my sin inflicted,
grief I caused those I love,
hurt I have caused God…
 
Christ carried my sin,
my shame to Golgotha,
He died to redeem me,
from my eternal damnation…
 
But I still carry scar tissue,
my guilt remains with me,
consequences of my sins,
will ever be with me…

The consequence of sin
of our sinful nature
of natural disasters
the curse on the land…
 
The mystery of suffering
beyond our comprehension,
nothing we can explain sometimes,
sometimes it just is…
 
God is good, all-powerful,
but pain entered creation,
free will, bad choices,
things we cannot know…
 
But they do not change,
God’s eternal nature,
for God is good, righteous,
even before there was creation…

We lament, we cry out,
“God, why?!?”
an emptiness, a pain,
faith does not touch…
 
Evil, sin, estrangement,
pain we cannot comprehend,
not giving everything to God,
the source of our strength…
 
Open wounds, unmended,
scar tissue still bleeding,
hurt, pain we carry,
that we don’t trust to God…
 
We still lament, we cry out,

eternally Good,
our God is Perfect
without Sin…
 
God is Righteous,
perfectly Holy,
He will judge us
according to His will…
 
Broken and fallen,
each of us are shattered
we need our Savior
to redeem us to God…
 
Washed and made righteous,
our stain washed forever,
only through Christ’s sacrifice
can we stand before Righteous God…

Warned by God for our good,
danger in temptation, forbidden fruit,
though pleasing to the eye,
hidden torment lurking
present in each act of disobedience,
in our turning from the path of God…
 
Permanent consequences, eternal damnation,
never fully healed, even on the cross,
our lives forever marked, cursed,
by their disobedience, their legacy,
a curse brought on each of us
in their choices, our choices,

We are one, my love,
two hearts beating,
sharing a life together,
though miles apart…
 
We are one, my beloved,
a hope and a promise,
a dream of a life spent,
held in each other’s arms…
 
We are one, forever,
my wife, my everything,
my world revolves around,
your words of love…
 
We are one, my world,
today and tomorrow,
forever united, together,
in our belief in love…

Kryvyi Rih

Another place seared in our consciousness,

in the memory of these good people,

another massacre, a tragedy, genocide,

the anger of the aggressor, killing

murdering the innocents, the children,

their grandparents with them,

a slaughter because the world is complacent,

complicit in their terror, their evil,

while we sit in our comfort….

Now must be the moment, today,

when we change, when we wake up,

we must stand beside Abel, the victim,

to stop Cain from murdering, erasing,

the history, the culture, this nation,

Ukraine from the map of Europe,

this good and ancient peoples,

we must stand beside them in their fight,

to stand in the gap with them…
