canaries in the mineshaft
modern signs, metaphors, harbingers
the web on the brink
corals in decline
icecaps melting
deserts growing
eating the land
a selfish world groans
under the strain, the stress
a failure of stewardship,
forgetting the duty
embedded in sovereignty
dominion over creation
our precarious place
perched like them
dancing high in the canopy
on gossamer threads of the web
