How soon they forget,
when the watchful eye
of the parent, the babysitter
is turned from their gaze;
how soon the people forget
the mighty deeds, the acts
done for them, in their lives
how soon we all forget
turn away, from the path
to other gods, other idols,
other self-medication
forgetting the care, the love
of the parent, the Creator,
the Sustainer, the Savior.
