A Meditation on Good Treasure

We were sitting in the circle,
a room in Your house
around the table
studying once more
Your word, words for us
to understand, take in, live with
An understanding, for a moment,
for some of us, of the worth,
the depth of meaning,
of the words used
to teach Your lesson
The difference between
the temporal treasure
in the pirate’s chest
and the good treasure,
deep in our hearts
the good treasure of faith
That which cannot be taken
only given up,
a treasure
held dear within us,
carried with us
wherever we go
