There was a smile waiting for me
on my arrival, taking a break
a smile waiting for me at the kitchen table
a smile of spicy brown mustard
on the provolone slice
smiling at me, to bring a smile
to my face too. Funny how simple things
remind us of the joy of the moment
of the moments we can share
as a family, amid the clutter of life
even a smile of yellow-brown
can bring smiles around the table
and with this poem, maybe,
around the world
