A little audience participation,
the congregation greeting each other
“Hi friend”, warm smiles erupting
spreading from face to face
a glow filling the sanctuary
Maybe to understand the lessons
the teaching in the word,
maybe instead of neighbor
instead of stranger
Friend instead
picturing ourselves greeting
as if each person we meet
viewing all as a friend
Being Christ’s friends,
sharing his love, abiding in the father
with him, in love, in community
living in the vine, in fellowship
one to another, bound, entwined
calling all a friend, perhaps
just one we don’t know yet
