His words, jarring a bit, in the middle of the prayer
amid the words of our hearts, our longings, our cares
our joys and our concerns offered up in faith, in hope
a reminder, the need to give thanks, to offer too
thanksgiving for his birth, for the path of the cross
His journey from ministry to reconciliation,
from teaching to sacrifice, leading to the cross
needing to share, together, in worship
weeks after Easter, remembrance of the cross
