Like a hurricane, coming straight for them
a thundering rush of wind, piercing the night
so was the entrance of the Spirit
bringing power for the disciples
to dwell in each beating heart
flames of fire alighting
landing on each one
bringing for them and for us
the birth of the church
emboldening these timid souls
for acts of power, of the message of love
lived out by these men and women
clustered in fear together
now speaking in languages they did not know
spreading the message of Christ
like a brushfire

Call to Worship: Psalm 104:31-33 (NIV)
Unison Prayer,
“Almighty God, Giver of knowledge and might, we come
before your throne to worship You in Spirit and truth. We
pray that your Spirit of illumination would fall upon us
gathered here today so that we may hear your still small
voice, guiding us as we sojourn through this world. May we
feel Your presence with us here today. Come Spirit, fill our
hearts this day. Amen”
