Maybe in our squirming
our discomfort in the scripture
our hearing the words of Christ
and measuring them, truthfully,
against our own faith
what we haven’t done
the lessons we have ignored
the truths of Christ we have turned from
falling short of the Lord
In our discomfort hope
in that we hear his voice
that alone has promise
to feel our Lord’s embrace
to still have time
to turn from false voices
returning to God
to the way of grace
