Leaving the Earth

Like no plane of man
the heavenly whirlwind
lifting him up
leaving the earth

What it must have been like
losing their master
knowing he would return
because he told them so

Yet fear gripping them
unsure of what to do
he said to wait
to stay together

To wait for the Spirit
who would give them power
able to speak
to heal in his name

To boldly proclaim
the good news of Christ
in many languages
to the ends of the earth
