Like David, encumbered
each of us weighed down
when we put on the armor
the suit of another
ignoring the gifts
especially made
given by the creator
only to us
Each of us needing
as part of Christ’s ministry
witnesses now
to his goodness on earth
discerning my stones
the gifts of the wadi
taking up my own sling
out into the world
