The other believers
those gathered round
hearing the disciples speak
wondering at the sound
The first disciples
those gathered together
speaking in words we could comprehend
speaking in our own languages
The message of Christ
by the Spirit’s power
cutting through the Babel
to reach each believer
Changing us in that instant
the birthing of the church
by the power of the word
spread to each one
in our own language
