The Bread of His Body

What Christ offered
the Word, the living water
the bread of his body
given for us

Sent from heaven
by the Father above
the Spirit too descending
bodily as a dove

Christ here on earth
to heal the breach
to feed our spirits
so much to teach

Giving himself
on the altar of the cross
the Son of God dying
paying the awful cost
