A Slave to Our Sin

Unable, unwilling
to see the chains about us
the layer upon layer
our past around us, chains

A slave to our sin
though we claim freedom
as if we are not bound
by our sin, our living

Only by grace
turning to our Savior
the wages of sin
paid on the cross

Only by his sacrifice
are we redeemed from the lost
the shackles falling, open
walking with our Savior
in God’s loving kingdom
