Though he was God
the Word alive
the Word made flesh
come to the earth
Christ emptied himself
donning the skin of clay
the dust, the dirt
to walk our way
Christ emptied himself
becoming a shell
a slave of the Master
to be filled, to be poured out
going as he was led
according to God’s plan
becoming a slave
obedient to the cross
