while it may be bread – v3

I know that it is bread
that it is grape juice
(we wouldn’t have wine,
we’re Methodists).

But while it may be bread
it is the most special on earth
this is a metaphor of what Christ did
giving himself for us.

We eat of his body,
we drink of his blood,
or so we should, if we are reverent
mindful of what he had done
that we paid the price for us.

It may be bread; but
it is far more than this
our life, eternal
in the stuff of this

We eat of his body
we eat of our fill
drinking of heaven
of the life,
all that is
