we all struggle in wilderness

when we fail to follow our call
when we deny Christ,
when we run away, as they did
the first disciples of Jesus
wilderness when. . .
we seem to be wrestling with evil
falling into the grip of the Tempter
into the pit of our own despair
lost in the wilderness
wandering away from God
needing to turn to the word
to the ancient text
protection there for us
just as there was for Christ
when he was in the wilderness
we all struggle in wilderness
for he was human like us
wilderness when . . .
for each our own answer
to fill in the blank
we all fall short
we all are tested
the Tempter yet waiting
to catch up in a weak moment
to turn us from God
