We look in a mirror
in the face of our neighbor
for similarities, kinship
noting differences
that which sets us apart
forgetting all that is the
same
all that makes us one
From the perspective of God
the eyes of the Creator
there is no black, no white,
no red, no yellow, no rich
or poor
no male or female, gay or
straight
all of us the same
each of us children
sheep that have gone astray
All of us called to the fold
to the arms of the Good Shepherd
the Lamb who atoned
for each of our sin
Called to the Father
to His love and comfort
called to see our brothers,
our sisters
in each stranger’s face
