Family memories
scraps and treasures
preserved on shelves
behind panes of glass
frozen there on the wall
hanging images of our past
of our families, together
covered in dust, in cobwebs,
most without note,
provenance
lost with the passing
the matriarch, her memory
of the things, their deep
meaning
who they originally belonged
to
the hands into which they
passed
triggers of stories,
feelings,
smell, touch, connectedness
the living of our family
framed, saved, treasured
kept for a reason
living pieces of us
