quench the fire within us – v3

Stand resolute, be sure,
strong against the torrent
the waters swirling around us
kindling the flame within us
our embers burning brightly
against the torrent, the chaos

The forces on this earth
seeking the quench the fire
the flame burning within us
to drown us in the waters
never rising again
to put out the Holy Spirit

We must never let that happen
burning brighter together
standing in the torrent
while the waters swirl around us
fanning the flames, together
burning ever, to the end of time
the fire alive within us
those who claim His name
