pierced, crushed, and punished – v2

the babe they gazed on

the One that was promised

whose birth was foretold

the ancient words of scripture

God’s Suffering Servant

the Messiah of old, of this moment,

pierced, crushed, and punished

for us, taking our place

Christ, the babe in the manger

the man upon the cross

Christ’s life preordained, destined

to fulfill these ancient words

to be our sacrifice, the Lamb;

By His wounds we are healed

redeemed from the lost.
