how can we be silent
in the face of injustice
if God knows us, truly,
if we believe these words of
scripture
if we believe God’s promises
are true
God said He numbered our
days
that He knows the hairs on
our head
that He knew us, before the beginning

as we were formed in our
mother’s womb
how can we act this way
to our sisters, our brothers
how can we be silent
