The videotaped footage
their struggle in Cairo
factions lining up
in Tahrir Square
lining up, divisions;
Like the stones from the
wadi
gathered by David, for his
sling
thrown against the giant
to save the whole nation
Will history see,
what will be the judgment
the same struggle
the small shepherd boy
against the amassed armies;
The fear of repression, a
nail in the coffin
the subjugation of a people
in the tumult of today,
tomorrow
will we hear the same echoes
What will the lessons be, in
the future
of the stones being hurled,
thrown
will the same be said, in
history
will we have heard, looking
back;
What will become, recorded
of the cries of the peoples
who will they sing of, in
the square,
in the retelling someday,
down in time
of what happened on the
plain of battle
The videotaped footage
their struggles in Cairo
When the small protestors
stood against the giant,
defiant
with their stones from the
Wadi
Standing for their freedom
in Tahrir Square
casting off the shackles
of their strongman masters
