Something of liberation
theology
of the faith of those in
poverty
a radical rethinking
of the whole world
in the words of Jesus
the upside down language
in His life, His message,
in the Sermon on the Mount
in every word He spoke
while He walked the earth
Our people, our nation
this Land of Opportunity
this place of abundance
maybe too complacent
needing to change, to
awaken,
needing to move, to come
back to Your truth
losing our focus
listening to the winds
sinking under the waves
Flawed in our selfishness
in our claim to be self-made
listening to the world
needing to live church
to go out in Christ’s name
to be that beacon
a Light to the nations
reclaiming the hope, the
dream,
within our Declaration of
Independence
in how we relate to the
world
The verb of church calling
us
up out of our pews, our
comfort,
shouting in the wilderness,
railing against all
injustice
bending down into the ditch
helping our neighbors in
need;
Living as the first church
did
the believers leaning on
each other
not the brick and mortar,
but living in community.

“This
Sunday my sermon is titled
“Pursuing
More Than Happiness,”
and
it is based on Matthew 5:1-13.
If
you have a few minutes to read
this
passage of scripture prior to attending the service,
you
might get a little more out of the sermon.
In
this sermon, I want to challenge us all
to
live with greater intentionality and to find
deeper
levels of meaning
for
our lives. Instant gratification can be the
enemy
of faithful living.
Intentionality
is the path to blessedness.”
