Choosing to become clay – v2

Giving up His clothes, His body,
of shimmering light, of heaven,
Letting go of eternity;
Donning the flesh of mankind,
Choosing to become clay

Christ descending to life
to the lowly manger, to the stable,
Walking these dusty streets with us;
Leaving the courts of the Lord
for the earth here below

Though Christ is God, the Word,
He emptied Himself, in love,
Feeling our pain, our mortality;
Walking as a Servant of God
humbly to earth He came
