in darkness my liberty
I am not held by these chains,
by these prison walls,
Sunset signals my escape,
I am freed of these bonds…
 
I mount to the height, I vault,
No weight, no resistance,
rising above, outside,
into the night air I climb,
freed from my chains…
 
my heart’s flying, escaped,
far from this place, soaring
to my homeland, Ukraine…
I pray that the bright stars
will gather me home once more,
They will show me the way…
