His prayer was answered,
His wish was fulfilled,
the longing of his spirit…
He was brought home to the Dnipro…
 
Taken from the foreign land,
the place of his sorrow…
Shevchenko was gathered home,
to the hilltops, his rest…
 
His body was laid to rest,
in the dark soil, his homeland…
Shevchenko is forever
one with Ukraine…
