a small part of the body – v2

We each have a tongue

but a small part of the body

a great fire, a small park

a rudder over us

The tongue can lead us away from God

into the bloody deep

a fire, up from hell,

filled with poison

Yet the tongue is able to bring us to praise

to sing our joy to God

the tongue is a small part of the body

but important in our lives

a spark to cause a blaze

burning all in its path

no conscience, no stopping

the clouds, the haze

the tongue is a fire

a caustic acid, a burn

bile, verbal abuse,

scalding all in its wake

sometimes a funeral pyre

according to His plan
