Christ is the shining city on the hill

Our hope is not in the world

in nothing made by human hands

only in Christ Jesus,

in our risen Savior;

Christ is the hope of mankind

the light to the nations.

Not in America, not in Israel

not in a nation state

no matter how democratic;

Christ is the shining city

the light on the hill,

our one hope for salvation.

an atoning sacrifice

an offering of God
of our Savior
for he chose the cross
to heal the nations

he could have the crown

We fall before him
broken, needing healing
he tells us to rise
to serve his children
