In hearing the stories
about the ice sheet
up in the arctic, on Greenland
on the ice shelves
on the bottom of the globe
talk of ice thinner than before,
across the board, and final
reminding me of the signs
each winter on more local waters
where thin ice is a warning
real risk, dangerous rescues
So to with these news reports
scientific findings, up above
the arctic circle
Thin Ice, be careful,
we are on thin ice

this summer, we have had a cascade
of reports, harbingers, clarion calls
to action, to stop this slide
if we can
