Tell President Obama and Congress only the truth will set us free!
Dear [[First Name]],
The United Methodist Church has taken an unequivocal stand against torture in any form. While President Obama's Executive Order banned the use of torture, there still remains the need for past actions by the United States to be fully known so that we can make sure we never torture again.
In only a few short days, hundreds have added their name to the Truth Will Set You Free petition. We want to add hundreds, if not thousands more to this and we need your help! (http://www.umc-gbcs.org/site/c.frLJK2PKLqF/b.5128831/k.521B/United_Methodists_Do_Not_Torture/apps/ka/ct/contactus.asp?c=frLJK2PKLqF&b=5128831&en=lmKSL6PVImLVL6NRLkIXL6NRJmL4KbPUIhIYJhN5JwIfH&tr=y&auid=4857329)
Send this to your friends, family, and fellow church members.
Torture Awareness Month
June is Torture Awareness Month. We are joining with the National Religious Coalition Against Torture (NRCAT) to encourage churches to engage in any number of educational activities to raise awareness about the need to end torture once and for all! Please visit NRCAT's website (www.nrcat.org) for more details.
I hope you and your church will join!
In Christ,
