To Be Forced to Be Silent

The only choice impossible
to deny your whole existence
your sense of calling
to serve the living God

To be forced to be silent
by some code of lowly man
not about to stand in the space
between me and the Great I Am

Needing to speak
to state aloud the truth
needing to be true to ourselves
standing in the breach

How are we to love
if we must deny ourselves
lying about our walk in this life
to stay on the right side of the law
