Mercy First

Love, yes, grace
but mercy in our walk
in our speech, our actions
in our journey of faith

None able to judge
all of us fallen
all to come before the judgment seat
the book of our lives open

How we treat our neighbors
in the law of freedom
the words of the Messiah
spoken to us directly

The two commands
the pillar of faith
to love God
and to love our neighbors

Mercy first,
above all else
going through life humble
the way of the cross

Remembering our clay
our distance from God
and how God makes us all holy
for his grace on the cross
