Simon of Cyrene

Can we imagine ourselves
Simon of Cyrene,
forced to walk with Christ
to carry his cross
pulled from the crowd
leaving his sons
Can we feel the sweat of Jesus
his hot breath
his blood spattered on us
Do we walk with Christ
on the way to the cross
where he suffered and died
where he bore the awful cost
Is Lent real, does it touch us
our Savior going to the cross
suffering for us
