Oh to be able to shout
to proclaim before Jesus
boldly, with confidence,
that my heart was prepared
my lamp ready, filled, burning
that I was awake and ready
for the return of my Master
Living as worship
living out my witness
sharing the light freely
untroubled by the world
at peace ever in my spirit
anxiously waiting, ready
awake in that night
Christ, the bridegroom to return
His coming in secret
as a thief in the night
only known, revealed,
in God’s timing alone
unknown to you and me;
yet we know because he promised
We must be faithful
to see eternity, the streets of gold,
to be with our Master
walking the path of our Savior
work to be done, here, now
to prepare for our Master
when he comes in Glory
