The Carpenter – A Prayer - v2

Dear Lord,

Before you were the Good Shepherd,
you were the carpenter’s son,
a carpenter yourself.

We can learn much, from you
the carpenter, even as
the fishermen did,
after your rising.

Cutting with the grain,
planing the boards level,
sanded smooth, measuring,

Planning, drafting and
redrafting, before the first cut,
long before the nailing.

Help us be your hands, using the tools,
our skills, the blueprint,
for this work and our lives
and for the people we are helping.

Guide us Lord to follow
the plans of the Carpenter
and Creator, the Master Architect.

Amen.
