Christ’s lesson for us
on the two in the temple
the rich Pharisee and
the lowly tax collector
each coming in prayer
The latter, humbly praying
unable to speak, prideful,
in ashes and sackcloth
justified with God because
he called upon the Lord
Knowing his state, his sin
needing God, his mercy
and his grace
to make it in this life
to live again
