Walls between us
our neighbors ourselves
setting us apart
words defining
that moment in time
“my land”, set in one
place
My land, these words
separating our world
ownership, protection
walling off neighbor
claiming land as their
own
passed on to descendants
My land, not yours
for my own purpose
now claiming the land
fixed in one place
no longer nomads, gatherers
now people bound to the
earth
