The story of so many
who try to be faithful
yet staring at calamity
capricious and cruel
in reading Job
seeing us, ourselves
our struggles in this life
wanting to believe
but not trusting in God
Painful, eager for answers
mysteries we cannot know
why’s and how’s of this
world
beyond our capacity or
reason
wanting the questions to
matter
to speak directly to God;
but, unlike Job, hopefully,
trying to be careful
walking more humbly before
God
