not punishment

not punishment but reconciliation
self-emptying, servanthood,
giving ourselves completely
this is the cross, not retribution,
a gift, a giving, a willingness
to commit ourselves to God
to give up our false control
to admit our weakness
our inability to live righteous
to fall down on our knees
and cry out to Jesus
Lord, come now, please
come and save us

An Immoral Act
partially remembering negative comment

in response to my poem
“I held my Savior”
(which was actually my attempting to speak as John the Baptist
as he baptized Jesus, not about the crucifixion directly)

@raymondafoss @UpperRoom Why does God even need a HUMAN SACRIFICE? Say NO to HUMAN SACRIFICES and SCAPE GOATING! It is IMMORAL!
