so easy to see ourselves
to place ourselves
in that story
so easily discouraged
returning to our old lives
transformed, changed
in epiphany moments
in wondrous days
when we felt Christ with us
but in darkness going home
in that story
Christ comes beside us
walking with us on the road
sharing the ancient story
how he was to come
the prophecies fulfilled
in the life of Jesus
something we hold on to
when he is not right with us
when we are confused
walking on the journey
forgetting too quickly
he is with always
