church is a failure – v2

church is a failure
if it is a place of judgment
if people cannot be real
if they can’t be authentic

we long for community, for family,
for a real place of belonging
a safe place to be broken,
to be on the mend

church is a failure
if we can’t be broken
if we can’t struggle
if we can’t be imperfect

church must be a refuge, a sanctuary,
where we can be authentic
a safe place to be broken,
to be on the mend
