Little
and big secrets
silence,
not sharing
from
shame, for protection
blank
spots, missing pieces
in
the telling, retelling
of
our family’s story
Carved
off areas
sometimes
casually shared later
As
if we knew, forgetting the secret
the
silence, the missing words
in
real-time, in our living;
names
crossed from address books
pain
pushed down
Missing
memories
scraps
of childhood
undiscussed,
unspoken;
moments casually blurted out
when there was no warning,
forgetting, the secrets spoken.
