Morning Drive – v2

A skin of frost on the ground,
held within the branches,
the yellowed fields;
a film of ice on the pond,
low fog lit on down the road

Light in the windshield
shafts, rays, highlight
glowing milkweed pods
bursting for later rebirth

Quiet, rumble of the engine
Heading from home;
Heading to work,
reversed in the dark
