Outside, out back,
in the garden
kneeling down by
the border
Rich loam slips between
my fingers;
a grip of stems,
roots, balls of grass
pulled up through
the rain drenched soil.
The smell of the
mulch, the grass,
wraps itself around
me
the water from
heaven;
A newness of the
morning
after the shower.
A patch cleared of
the unwanted
weeds pulled out of
the garden;
Separated from the
wheat,
the chaff for the burning
the wheat to be
gathered in.
A wonderful
closeness to nature
pulling weeds in
the garden;
God’s lessons for
us
of all that He
provides
through the work of
my hands
