reminder in scripture -
Every mother bears an echo of Mary -
eternity in her vessel growing,
part of creation with the Creator...
but, oh, the wonder, the power,
from the moment of conception -
Before He was laid in the manger -
before His sacrifice, love,
the intimacy of incarnation
Christ in that secret place,
Held in Mary’s blessed womb...
Mary became God’s servant,
her life, her body, her all,
became a holy vessel, but
far more than her womb,
carrying the seed of Jesus,
her place in this world,
Mother Mary, our matriarch
holding eternity closely
the life growing within her,
Christ, the Messiah, the Son,
The immortal became flesh...
The kernel of heaven was within her
growing within her vessel
in secret, in silence, living,
God’s holy seed, the Christ...
The Creator, who set the stars in motion,
folded Himself into the smallest seed of humanity,
choosing fragility, choosing dependence -
Nine months of quiet, of waiting,
a heartbeat beside Mary’s own,
listening to the heartbeat of Mary,
Jesus, our risen Lord and Savior...
God entered creation,
inside the bounds of time,
love, living as we do, mortal,
nine months of quiet, of waiting, -
Every child before they are born,
like our risen Lord and Savior -
hearing the heartbeat of our mother,
a divine pulse beating within her flesh.
formed in silence, in secret
conscious of humanity, human,
of the world He had entered,
Broken, in need of restoration...
