Not leaving anything to chance,
contours of their surface,
like the rising and falling of earth,
each strawberry covered, bedazzled,
an intricate pattern, repeating,
rows on a topographical map,
seeds placed precisely, discretely,
consciousness, painstaking effort,
perfect precision, a design,
a singular purpose, individuals,
like a fingerprint, unique,
an intricate pattern, repeating,
leaving nothing to chance…

Drawn into the leaf – v2

Eyes seeing beauty,
Design in the structure
Intricacy of the network
Below, within, the green.
 
Drawn into the leaf,
As if transported,
A fantastic voyage, deep within,
to the design, to the sub-atomic.
 
Wooed through the membrane,
Studying beauty, precision,
The presence of God
Wandering deep within.
 
Drawn into the leaf,
Into the infinitesimal,
Moving deeper still
Touching creation….

what is the sky trying to tell me – v2

Looking up into the infinite, the temporal,
the layer of vapor above us
the thin film over our planet
above the earth, the waves.
 
What is the sky trying to tell me,
in the variety of blues, in the sunsets, the sunrises,
in the whisper of the clouds, shouts of thunderclaps,
above the earth, these waves?
 
So much to ponder, in that simple question,
In pausing, in stopping, in pondering,
the infinite, the divine, the dome above us,
the waves, the earth below…

pausing, looking up at the blue sky – v2

stopping my endless chaos,

my daily life of rushing, moving,
pausing, looking up at the blue sky
pondering eternity, meaning,
the whys of our lives, the sky,
above the earth, the waves.
 
looking up into the infinite,
yet temporal, changing,
the layer of vapor above us
the thin film over our planet
so permanent, yet ephemeral,
above the earth, the waves.
 
what is the sky trying to tell me
in the variety of blues, the grays,
in the sunsets, the sunrises,
in the whisper of the clouds,
the shouts of the thunderclaps,

is the universe still in motion

God created, that is what matters

but the theories conflicting;

how long it took

and is it still in motion

Was it a week, static,

He assigns each star a name – v3

In the canvas of heaven

each of the shimmering lights;

The hands of the Creator

setting each to right.

God assigns each star a name

in the whole of the cosmos;

God numbers the hairs upon our head

the days of our lives.

Loving us richly, holding us closely,

our lives in his loving hand;

The Creator of the Universe

knows us each by name.

That Millisecond of Time – v2

At the very beginning,

that millisecond of time

when the chaos, the deep

was pierced by the light;

When order began to divide

the dark from the light

the waters from the land

the dome, the seas, the skies.

Oh to see creation at that moment

the world and all that came into view

all part of the master’s holy plan

by the breath of God.

His hand, His Spirit,

over the seas, the dry land

all that was to be

revealed in a moment of grace.

Pleased was the Lord,

“good, very good”,

spoken over all God surveyed

the plants, animals too;

The creatures of the deep

those that walked the earth

man and women too

all good, very good.

An ordered universe

out of the void,

that nothingness

the chaos giving way;

The voice of the Creator

spoke all to life;

Resting, taking Sabbath,

when the work was done.
