Revealing its true colors,
Treasure in its simplicity,
golden color held in her hands,
normalcy of the change of seasons,
simple moments of reflection,
ignoring the chaos all around,
the war, the continuing storm…
 
One leaf gathered up from the field,
held, cupped in worn, tired hands,
treasure in its simplicity, purity,
a beautiful messenger, a whisper,
a harbinger of autumn, a prayer,
a foretaste of the coming winter
the cold soon to come…
 
Like the wheat, the sunflowers,
the colors of this nation,
held so loosely, gently,
normalcy in simplicity,
yellow below a fall-azure sky,
emblematic of Ukraine,
their nation, seeking peace…

Across the plane of the #petals – v4 #flowers #God #creation

I stopped to capture beauty, an image…
Drawn into memory, history, legacy,
motion froze in time, still air
The flower not moving…
Serenity in the stillness, momentarily,
Sunlight bathed upon the blossom,
across the plane of the petals,
all in capturing the focus, clarity,
breathing, drinking it all in…

Perfection in every detail,
subtle hints of shadow,
depth in millimeters, precision,
sunlight revealing a moving wave,
all drawn into focus, depth of field…
flatness of the blossom
diving in ever more closely
holding my breath, steady,
for the perfect shot…

When we stop, when we look more closely,
We see the world differently, wonder,
in precision, close-up, closer,
the intricate precision, the Creator’s plan…
Lowering my body, my eyes, my lens,
across the plane of the petals,
stopping even for a moment…
Beauty alive in the still air
just off the front porch…

Velvet, satin, a soft living fabric,
Speaking the words of texture
without touching, disturbing the moment,
Eternity cut by the Creator, such precision,
formed within the unfolding kernel,
across the plan of the petals…
The center rising, a prima ballerina,
Ache of stopped motion, frozen,
poised like a spinning top…
 
Across the plane of the petals,
illumined in the warm sunlight,
seeing the beauty God created…
Slowing my steps toward the door,
pausing from my motion…
A moment too important to lose…
Seeing the world stopped, frozen,
taking time to notice, to marvel at
the work of our Potter’s hand…

Across the plane of the petals – v3

Stopping to capture beauty…

drawn into memory, history, legacy,

motion froze in time, still air…

serenity in the stillness, momentarily,

across the plane of the petals,

all in the focus, clarity,

breathing, drinking it all in...

Perfection in the details,

subtle hints of shadow

sunlight hitting a moving wave,

all drawn into focus, depth of field…

flatness of the blossom

diving in ever more closely

for the perfect shot…

Seeing the world differently

lowering my body, my eyes, my lens,

across the plane of the petals,

stopping even for a moment…

beauty alive in the still air

just off the front porch…

The center rising, a ballet dancer,

ache of stopped motion, frozen,

poised like a spinning top…

Across the plane of the petals,

seeing the beauty God created,

pausing from my motion,

seeing the world stopped,

taking time to notice

work of our Potter’s hand…

Not just evocative,
drawing us into these moments,
we are there with them,
experiencing what they felt,
sitting in our reserved seats,
smelling the peanuts,
tasting the beer, the popcorn,
feeling that same sunlight upon us,
watching our heroes play,
Baseball, eternal, remembering,
these moments today...

The roar of the crowd around us
Standing in foul territory
Trying to get the shot.
 
We are there, present,
At the stadiums, the parks,
With the fans, the players,
Trying to get the shot.
 
We are in the moment
Seeking to freeze the action
We are with our heroes
Trying to get the shot.
 
We are there, present,
Though generations later
Seeing through the paintings
That they go the shot…

A different palette, different brushstrokes,
Not merely the three primary colors,
Those on the color wheel only, drawing,
Painting something more important, willing,
Colors of history, of time, of nostalgia, of memory,
From our perspective, our collective ethos,
From our one story, our common ken, to life.
 
Delicately brushing grains of history on the canvas,
Adding memory of the fans, the nation,
Capturing a moment, perfection…
Affixing more than their features,
Something of the power, the gravitas,
Willing the hesitant colors to become permanent,
Evoking mystery, capturing light in a bottle, a spark.
 
Bleeding nostalgia, importance, these colors,
Our heroes, a different moment, a time,
Our country’s history, our youth,
What we would wish it to be,
When we all played the same game,
Drawn from the palette, a wooing,
A willing of the images to come alive…

Painting eternity, icons – v3

Painting eternity, icons, our national pastime,
capturing our heroes, a moment of grace,
Glorious, as they were in those moments;
Longing for perfection, seeking to get it right,
striving to be faithful, to the image, to that age,
When we called them heroes, gods of the diamonds.
 
Seeing the nobility, the gravitas, the moment,
grown men playing a game we all knew, our pastime,
with fealty to our nostalgia, our myths, our legends,
to the images in the emulsion, capturing their faces;
Longing for the power in the lighting, the shades of color,
painting our diamond heroes, so many we have lost.

Dipping my brush - v2

Being purposeful, attentive, open,

Drinking from this cup, wider,

seeing the bounty, the creation,

visions of the artists, the creators,

sculptures, images, moments,

captured from the ether, their imagination…

Saving this moment, these moments, special,

Creating memory, drawing each of us in,

gathering senses, colors, textures,

sparking creation, delving, exploring,

digging deeper, emoting perspective,

Art, a drink, a taste, a tease…

Being conscious, present, wandering, stopping,

Dipping my brush in a fuller palette, richer,

different media, far more than color,

a buffet, a smorgasbord, a banquet, a feast,

sampling creation, vision, imagination,

visual textures, a veritable bas-relief…

Seeing, my plate, everything vibrant,

A splash of ceramics, a dab of sound, chaos,

transcendent photographs, glass hanging down,

shades, shapes, colors, images real, imagined,

painting in wood, in fabric, in silence,

brushstrokes of emotion, of eternal light…

Dipping my brush

Drinking from this cup, wider,
